Is Arthritis Society Canada a registered charity?

Yes. Arthritis Society Canada’s charitable number is 10807 1671 RR0003. When you donate to the Arthritis Society you will receive a tax receipt. Arthritis Society Canada is also accredited by Imagine Canada, which means we are one of only a small number of national health charities that has been accredited for our commitment to transparency and accountability.

What does the money raised by donors support?

Funds from our generous donors and sponsors have given Arthritis Society Canada the power to raise the profile of this devastating disease, advance knowledge of it and explore solutions by funding best-in-class researchers. Funds also allow Arthritis Society Canada to challenge the status quo by undertaking advocacy into public policy, and to ensure our information and support programs address patient needs that are current and evidence-based.

Can Arthritis Society Canada help me with my fundraiser?

Arthritis Society Canada has many tools and resources available to assist in organizing fundraising events. Once you have decided to host an event or fundraiser in support of Arthritis Society Canada, we ask that you register your event or fundraising initiative online. If you do not want to register online, please contact us with the details of your fundraiser at moveyourway@arthritis.ca. We will review your event and get back to you within 10 business days.

Once your fundraising event is approved, we will provide you with all the tools and resources you may require to assist you in putting your event together. This includes tips on recruiting, fundraising and planning your event, as well as an online platform for your personal fundraising or events page that allows you to do the following:

send emails to friends and family
accept online credit card donations from friends and family
recruit event attendees or team members
set your fundraising goal
track your progress
share your story

Can I use the Arthritis Society Canada and/or Move Your Way logo?

Please reach out to us to use our logos. We must approve all public-facing materials that host our logos and brand. Email moveyourway@arthritis.ca.

Can I use the Arthritis Society Canada database to contact donors to promote my event?

As per the Privacy Act, Arthritis Society Canada cannot mail event information or contact our donors about a Move Your Way event or fundraiser.

Will Arthritis Society Canada provide insurance or funds to cover event expenses?

Arthritis Society Canada is not able to provide insurance for any Move Your Way events. Event organizers are responsible for obtaining the correct insurance. Arthritis Society Canada cannot be held liable for any part of a Move Your Way event or fundraiser.

Further, we are not able to contribute funds, financially support your event or reimburse expenses from donated funds. Event organizers are responsible for paying any expenses before making their donation or their donors’ donation to Arthritis Society Canada.

Can Arthritis Society Canada apply for a license or permit (lottery, etc.) on my behalf?

Arthritis Society Canada cannot apply for any licenses on your behalf. Provincial gaming and lottery links are listed below for your convenience.

Where do I send my offline donations?

If you have an event set up online, you can make a lump sum payment from the event on your credit card. If you would like to hand deliver cash donations, they can be dropped off at your local Arthritis Society Canada office.

Please note: it is not safe to mail cash. Please send a cheque payable to Arthritis Society Canada instead. If you are looking for tax receipts for your donors, please make sure that you include a copy of the donation form filled out in full, with legible writing, for Arthritis Society Canada to process tax receipts.

Can tax receipts be issued for my event?

For an event where the attendees are paying money to receive a benefit, such as a dinner party or concert, we cannot provide a tax receipt for any portion of the attendees’ payment.

For a fundraiser, such as a birthday or running a marathon, where you are collecting donations from your peers, any donation made online will automatically be issued a tax receipt. Offline donations (cheques or cash you receive) can also be receipted, once Arthritis Society Canada receives the donation(s) and completed offline donation form.

May I use my username and password from previous years to register for Move Your Way?

You no longer need a username and password on our new platform. Please log in using your email address to access your fundraising page.

How do I login?

To login, visit the Move Your Way website and click “Fundraiser Dashboard Log In” at the top right of the homepage. From there, simply type in the email address you signed up with. An email will be sent to you that includes a link to your dashboard as well as your fundraising page.

How can I reset my password?

The Move Your Way website doesn’t require a password when logging in. So as long as you remember the email you signed up with, resetting your password is not necessary.

How can I register?

To register, simply visit the More Your Way website and click “Register to Fundraise\" in the homepage banner or the “Start a Fundraiser” button just below the page’s main image and description. You’ll be asked to choose the type of fundraiser you’d like to create (DIY, Birthday, or Memorial/In Honour). From there, you’ll enter your personal details and then decide if you’d like to fundraise as an individual, join an existing team or create a new team.

How do I access my Fundraising Dashboard?

After logging in through the email link, you’ll be taken to your fundraising dashboard where you can customize your page, publish updates, and send thank you messages to your supporters.

How do I join an existing fundraising team?

Visit the Move Your Way homepage where you’ll find a list of teams. Click “See full list” where you can search for the team you’d like to join. If you can’t find it, contact your team leader and ask them to send you the team’s page link. Once they do, visit the team’s page and click the “Join team” button.

You can also do this during the registration process by selecting, “Join an Existing Team” when prompted.

I registered as an individual but want to join an existing team. How do I do that?

Only admins can change your registration from an individual fundraiser to joining a team. Email moveyourway@arthritis.ca and our team will take care of that for you.

How do I edit my personal or team fundraising page?

After logging in through the email link, you’ll be taken to your fundraising dashboard where you can customize your page, track activity (if your fundraiser includes activities such as walking, biking, etc.) publish updates, and send thank you messages to your supporters.

How do I change my personal fundraising goal?

Click on “My Donation Page” and you’ll see a text box on the right hand side where you can update your fundraising goal amount.

How do I change my team fundraising goal?

From the menu on the left, click “My Team Page.” There is where you can update your team’s fundraising goals as well as customize the page.

How do I send donation request emails to my contacts?

After clicking on “Social Media” from the menu on the left, you'll see a custom URL that you can copy and paste to your contacts. There are also social media buttons that allow you to share your fundraiser page online.

How do I thank my donors?

From the menu, click “My Donors” where you’ll see a list of supporters who have generously made a donation to your fundraiser. Select who you would like to thank and click the “Send thank” button. We have a drafted thank you message, but there is also a button “Generate text inspiration” that will replace it and can also be customized from there. It’s a good idea to send one last thank you message to all donors once your campaign is over to give them an update on your fundraiser’s accomplishments and the final amount you raised during the campaign.

Where can I find a link to my fundraising page?

You can find a link to your fundraising page by clicking “Social Media” from the menu on the left in your fundraising dashboard.
